In 2025, Sodexo has reduced food waste by 47.6% on sites that have implemented its flagship food waste measurement program - WasteWatch*. Building on this progress and its Better Tomorrow 2028 commitment to reduce food waste by 50%, Sodexo is now working more directly with clients to engage consumers and extend food waste reduction beyond its own kitchens and operations. This ambition is at the heart of the 2026 edition of WasteLESS Week, supported by activities developed with WWF.
For Sodexo, reducing food waste is not only an environmental imperative, but also a moral and a business one: it preserves valuable resources, contributes to our clients’ sustainable objectives, supports our clients’ sustainability ambitions, and reduces avoidable lost value.
To mark the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, the Group is highlighting the next step in its approach: complementing the action already taken across its kitchens and operations with greater consumer engagement.
Each year, WasteLESS Week provides a dedicated moment to showcase and reinforce Sodexo’s year-round action on food waste.
As part of this year’s edition, Sodexo is building on its long-standing global partnership with WWF to bring a series of interactive workshops and awareness activities for consumers to selected client sites.
Designed to be engaging and easily adapted to different client environments and consumer audiences, the workshops use hands-on exercises and worksheets to help participants identify simple actions they can take to reduce food waste in their everyday lives.
They focus on four key areas:
Food waste is a challenge that requires action across the entire food system, including the choices consumers make every day. By working with Sodexo through WasteLESS Week, we want to help turn awareness into practical action. Small changes in everyday behaviour, when adopted at scale, can make a meaningful difference.”
WasteLESS Week reflects Sodexo’s broader approach to sustainability: more operational, more business-oriented, and increasingly focused on engaging clients and consumers to turn commitments into measurable impact.
* WasteWatch has been deployed progressively since 2015 and now embedded as a global standard for Sodexo’s food services. By Fiscal 2025, Sodexo met its deployment objective, with WasteWatch rolled out to sites representing 85.4% of Sodexo’s food raw material cost.
