President and CEO of Sodexo North America, George Chavel is Group Chief Operating Officer and Executive Committee Member. In North America (United-States, Canada and Mexico), Sodexo produces $7.7 billion in annual revenues in the US. 120,000 employees in the company's six business lines serve more than 6,000 clients and ten million customers daily in corporations, health care, long term care and retirement centers, schools, higher education campuses, government and remote sites. These account for 37 % of the global revenue for parent company, Sodexo.
Mr. Chavel previously served as Vice President for the Hospitals/Acute Care division from 1998 to 2003, when he became Chief Operating Officer and Health Care Market President for Sodexo North America. Under his leadership, the company's health care business grew by nearly 30 percent to more than $2 billion in annual revenues.
Mr. Chavel has a record of building dedicated and successful teams and is a strong advocate of training and career opportunities for employees. Under his leadership, the Health Care division instituted training and recognition programs for Sodexo employees and client employees who exemplify the Sodexo values of compassion, accountability, respect, enthusiasm and service.
Prior to joining Sodexo, Mr. Chavel spent seven years in the restaurant franchising industry. Before then, he began his professional career with Arthur Andersen in Detroit, Michigan.
Mr. Chavel is a former board member of the National Committee for Quality Health Care and of the National Center for Healthcare Leadership. He chairs Sodexo's Diversity Leadership Council and is a member of the Sodexo Foundation Board.
Mr. Chavel holds a BA in Economics and Management from Albion College, in Albion, Michigan.
