Rugby World Cup

Ahead of the 2007 Rugby World Cup, Sodexo joined with the Mike Burton Group to set up Rugby Travel & Hospitality (RTH) to handle commercial ticketing and deliver hospitality services. Sales of travel and hospitality packages exceeded all previous records and RTH won the SportBusiness “Gold” award for sports event management.

2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver

Sodexo designed a comprehensive two-in-one hospitality and catering solution for the Olympic Committee during the 2010 Games. Combined management of these two critical areas enabled resource sharing, efficient hiring & training of a multicultural team of managers, supervisors and employees to run 24/7 housekeeping and foodservices at Olympic Villages.

Ascot Racecourse

We have a strong partnership with Ascot Racecourse where Sodexo has been the exclusive caterer for many years. We broke new ground by creating the Royal Ascot Fashion Show and the Bouji nightclub. Our recently renewed five-year contract covers sales and delivery of all hospitality packages and foodservices for conferences and private events.

Tailor-made meals for athletes

Sodexo has developed an innovative system to meet the specific energy needs of large sport events competitors. Prior to the competition, athletes can check the nutritional content of our 1,500 menus on the dedicated website and choose dishes to fulfill their calorie intake requirements.

Up for extreme challenges

All major events, such as World Youth Days where we supervise foodservices for 4,500,000 people, call for superior logistical skills and rigorous scheduling. To deliver extensive services under extreme conditions, such as in deserts, or high altitudes, clients need a special partner with expertise in remote site management.

 

Dakar Rally

During the 2010 Dakar Rally, Sodexo served over 75,000 meals to drivers covering more than 5,500 miles. Planning for the event included training a 92-person, trilingual operating team and coordinating three 5-truck caravans to transport equipment and staff between bivouacs.

St. Petersburg-Beijing Transoriental Rally

In 2008, Sodexo’s China Remote Sites team provided logistical support and food supplies for 800 participants in the 10,000-km St. Petersburg-Beijing Transoriental Rally.

Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh

At the prizewinning Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh, we implement a variety of eco-friendly practices and initiatives including local food sourcing, biodegradable packaging and programs to teach children the benefits of proper nutrition.

Dakar Rally

During the 2010 Dakar Rally, we encouraged the recruitment of local residents at each bivouac and the local sourcing of necessities such as bread, water, ice, beverages, fruit and vegetables from regional suppliers.

Ascot Racecourse

Sodexo also held a forum in 2010 for over 70 key suppliers at Ascot Racecourse. Senior managers seized the opportunity to promote our healthy eating initiatives and encourage suppliers to comply with specific sustainable procurement targets.
