In 2009, for example, Sodexo received the prestigious “Golden Gecko Award” for the excellence of its natural resource protection program deployed on mining and oil drilling sites we operate in Western Australia.

Eating well even in remote areas
Our experienced chefs develop menus for our client’s workers that combine pleasure with the benefits of wholesome nutrition. Drawing on our knowledge of Remote Site consumers worldwide, we know how to satisfy their diverse eating habits and various cultural and dietetic requirements.
For example, one of our clients is a world leader in deepwater offshore drilling with 15 platforms operating across the globe. To support their performance, we prepare balanced meals for their workers, including special menus to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas and the Chinese New Year.

Bringing more to Olympic Dam’s 2,000 residents
We use this approach at the Olympic Dam mining site in Australia, operated by BHP Billiton. To limit turnover and enhance the well being of the camp’s 2,000 residents, Sodexo offers a wide array of activities including theme parties and on-site sports activities as well as hiking and excursions outside the camp. The results are positive: residents are satisfied and retention rates have improved.
24/7 online concierge services
Maintaining a healthy life-work balance is especially difficult for people living away from home. Sodexo’s online concierge services enable remote site residents to manage some aspects of their personal lives from a distance to help them better concentrate on the work at hand and feel less isolated.

We know what it means, in concrete terms, to be far from home. We assist residents by taking charge of the many small - and important – details of everyday life.
