Helping students succeed
From pre-school through high school, we support students on their path to adulthood. To help them achieve their academic aspirations, Sodexo fosters a healthy lifestyle and creates living and learning environments that are conducive to success.
Exceptional student experiences
At Sodexo, we know that enhancing the quality of life on the university campus is crucial. Ensuring students' well being is an essential factor in academic achievement, which will lead to professional success later on. It also helps boost the reputation of educational institutions to attract and retain top faculty.
Attracting the most talented students
In France, Sodexo provides a comprehensive solution for the prestigious EDHEC business school. Through an original approach, we contribute to the global competitiveness of the institution by creating an exceptional learning environment. This partnership contributes to the school’s ability to attract the most talented students and faculty from around the world. At EDHEC, Sodexo manages a boutique, concierge services and a full retail dining offer as well as campus facilities and accommodations.
Eating healthy foods at any time
Students have many competing demands from studying to their busy social lives, which means healthy eating habits and wellness may not always be a top priority. Taking these factors into account, our food offers always include a health and wellness option for sit-down meals as well as snacks, sandwiches and beverages. This ensures that our convenience and take-away options allow students to watch their waistlines and enjoy the pleasure of tasty meals at the same time.
In the United States, Sodexo promotes varied and balanced food options in its restaurants and a series of activities and programs that operators can implement with a focus on serving local menus. Programs include promotions, programming, communication and marketing tools to help educate, raise awareness and drive satisfaction for every consumer we serve.
Sustainable campus
In recent years, sustainable development has become a major concern at college and university campuses. Sodexo supports their proactive efforts to limit their environmental impact and enhance their image.
Reducing and recycling waste
Like all institutions today, universities are focused on reducing the amount of organic and non-organic waste they produce and are looking for solutions to encourage and facilitate recycling. Sodexo experts work with institutions to design and implement tangible solutions to help increase recycling to reduce impact on landfills.
At the George Mason University Southside Dining Complex, Sodexo implemented the Go Green program. This initiative recovers organic food waste and transforms it into compost, increases the use of biodegradable materials, promotes recycling of paper, glass, plastic and cooking oil and gives preference to local suppliers and organic products.
Energy savings
A large part of university budgets goes to energy expenditures. For institutions that often accommodate several thousand students, reducing energy consumption is a top priority.
Controlling consumption
Sodexo understands that lasting energy savings can be achieved more effectively through a comprehensive process than by a piecemeal approach. We have therefore engaged our experts to design innovative energy management systems to help our partners achieve their sustainability goals.
In the United Kingdom, Sodexo teams have enabled the University of Bradford to lower its natural gas and electricity consumption by 18% through the adoption of environmentally responsible best practices.
In the United States, at the Skidmore College, Sodexo developed and implemented a complete campus lighting retrofit, including projects using geothermal heating and cooling. These improvements qualified the College for LEED Certification. In a single year, between 2008 and 2009, the college reduced its electrical consumption by 4% while at the same time increasing its square footage.
Design and construction
In many countries, university infrastructures are inadequate or in need of modernization. As a result, Sodexo know-how is increasingly sought to manage construction and renovation projects and to keep them on budget and on schedule.
Overseeing complex project management
Our engineers and technicians are responsible for project management from the design stage to the fittings and fixtures for classrooms, campus accommodations, gymnasiums, etc. Their expertise is especially in demand to design energy efficiency systems for buildings and interior organization and equipment.
In Thailand, the Asian Institute of Technology is becoming a “green” university, protecting and enriching the environment by creating botanical gardens, using biomass energy, setting up a wastewater treatment system and raising student awareness about natural conservation. Thanks to a strong partnership with Sodexo, AIT has transformed its campus to meet the school’s growth ambitions and enhance its image as a leader attracting students throughout Asia and from around the world.
What we do for... Hobart and William Smith Colleges
Since 1989, Hobart & Smith College (USA) has saved up to 2.4 million dollars in energy savings thanks to its partnership with Sodexo.
